The reliable mechanisms with a side blade opening, coil spring and button lock have proven themselves hundreds of thousands of times over in the Kalashnikov and Boker Plus series of switchblade knives for more than a decade. The lock is equipped with an additional side-mounted slide-lock for safe handling. The D2 steel blades are black coated. The handle is made of steel liners and fibre-reinforced nylon (FRN). The nylon has the characteristic moon and knob texture of the handles of Heckler & Koch military and government handguns. The knives are equipped with a pocket and belt clip for tip-up (r) carry and are available in two versions with different blade shapes. The Heckler & Koch FD01 is the fully tactical version of the tactical switchblade knife with a robust tanto blade and half serrated edge (combo edge) for cutting fibrous materials such as webbing and rope.
